The Raven

April 26, 2012

I went to see a screening of The Raven tonight. This is John Cusack at his best in this Cat and Mouse mystery thriller. Truthfully it could have been any detective/writer in the lead and not just Edgar Allen Poe. It’s more of a known name than anything to draw people in like a Sherlock Holmes detective story. Overall it’s a fun film to watch but gets a little easy midway through the film to guess whats gonna happen and even with the strong cast it doesn’t really help the movie go to the level it could have gone. Along with Cusack you have a solid cast with the addition of Luke Evans and Brendan Gleeson who at times over shadow Cusack but do keep this movie from really going down hill as if it were a BBC special on Sherlock Holmes. If you are a fan of Edgar Allen Poe or John Cusack than go check out this movie but otherwise wait for it on Netflix as I think the studio tried to push this really hard when it’s really sort of a dud.
